13 Moons of 28 days

☯️ The Lunar Moon of Dreamspell is known as the Moon of Challenge, also called the Scorpio Moon. The medicine of Scorpio is powerful. Scorpions are incredibly resilient: they are said to be able to survive even radiation from atomic explosions. We are blessed when we manage to survive conditions that seem impossible, retreating into stillness when necessary and emerging transformed. This is exactly where humanity finds itself today.

Our guiding words for these next 28 days of the Lunar Moon are:

POLARIZE — STABILIZE — CHALLENGE.

☯️ But this Lunar Moon carries with it a particularly powerful threshold: it begins with the final four Kin of a 260-day Tzolkin cycle, and then crosses the threshold into the birth of a completely new cycle. We move from the completion of one cycle into the beginning of another. From Kin 257, the Red Planetary Earth, through the final four Kin of the Tzolkin, we arrive at the zero point of completion. We are in the final days of labour, giving birth to a new self. The Tzolkin cycle lasts 260 days, exactly the length of a human pregnancy. It is extraordinary that, as humanity, we continually recycle ourselves through an ongoing process of self-regeneration.

☯️ Are we starting again? No, we are simply changing perspective within the spiral of Life. The new 260-day cycle opens with the Red Magnetic Dragon, the first wavespell, and continues with the White Magnetic Wizard, the second.

This Lunar Moon therefore becomes a bridge between ending and beginning, between completion and conception, between what has been learned and what is ready to be born and regenerated into wholeness. Let us remember that this is the year of the Galactic Moon: we are becoming whole with our spiritual nature.

☯️ And so the challenge we encounter in every Lunar tone of Dreamspell is not actually an enemy. The Lunar Moon teaches us to look differently at challenge. 

We are conditioned to think of challenge as something to avoid: a problem to solve, an obstacle to remove, an opposition to defeat. But through the lens of Dreamspell, a challenge can become a catalyst for evolution if we are able to remain steady in the face of an opposing force: polarity. Polarity gives us contrast. Contrast gives us awareness. Awareness gives us choice. And choice gives us the possibility of conscious evolution.

The challenge, therefore, is not necessarily something wrong with our path. Sometimes it is precisely what reveals where our path needs greater clarity. Let us not forget that this Lunar Moon is coded by Kin 223, the Lunar Night, the second day of the White Wind wavespell. Each 28-day Moon is coded by one Kin of the wavespell, giving the cycle of the Solar Year its evolutionary mission: in our case, we began the year on day 8 of the White Wind wavespell, the Red Galactic Moon.

☯️ And what teaching does the Lunar Night itself bring us, the Kin that codes this Moon? The Night calls us to explore the unconscious like deep-sea divers, like miners with a torch on their heads, descending into places where daylight cannot reach. Can we remain in the darkest night of the soul without becoming prey to our fears, without looking for shortcuts, without bypassing what asks to be fully felt? The Night does not ask us to illuminate everything immediately, but to have the courage to descend, to remain, to listen to what lives in the darkness before we can bring it into the light.

And at the same time, the Night also holds abundance: the buried treasure, the richness protected by darkness. Can we access this vastness without becoming blind or deaf, without allowing ourselves to be dazzled or overwhelmed by what we find? It is a double invitation: to descend without losing ourselves, and to receive without losing our senses.

☯️ What appears to be opposing us can show us what we are truly here for. What destabilises us can reveal where we have relied on something that no longer has the strength to support us.

What asks more of us can expand our potential. This is why the Lunar Moon, throughout these 28 days ahead, asks us to stabilise our challenges, not by eliminating them, but by learning from the polarity they carry within them.

☯️ The final four days: completing the old cycle with beauty, as the Yellow Star asks of us. The Lunar Moon begins in the final days of the previous Tzolkin cycle. These final four Kin carry the energy of completion, manifestation, reflection and integration. We are not simply moving forward.

We are being asked to complete consciously. Completion is an important part of creation. Before something new can truly emerge, there is often a period in which we must acknowledge what has reached its natural conclusion.

☯️ What have we learned? Which patterns have completed themselves? Which relationships, structures, beliefs or identities have fulfilled their purpose? What are we still carrying simply because we have not yet given ourselves permission to let it go?

The final days of a Tzolkin are therefore not an empty space before the beginning. They are the womb of the beginning. And then, with Kin 260, the cycle closes. There is no need to force the arrival of the next cycle. We simply become available to it. And then the Red Magnetic Dragon arrives and we are born into a new light. The new Tzolkin begins with Kin 1, the Red Magnetic Dragon.

☯️ The Dragon is actually a Dragoness, because she represents the primordial maternal force: birth, nourishment, being, origin, and the capacity to bring life into form. We also have a wonderful glimpse of polarity in the sky: on the threshold of the beginning of the new Tzolkin cycle, a deep partial lunar eclipse will occur with the full moon between 27 and 28 August 2026, obscuring around 96% of the lunar surface. As if the sky itself were reflecting this teaching.

The Magnetic tone asks: what is the purpose that is calling/attracting me? The Lunar tone responds by creating the possibility for our reality to emerge as we know it. What is your challenge in living life on Earth? This is a profound place from which to begin a new 260-day journey.

Before manifestation comes intention. Before action comes conception. Before knowing how something will happen, we must listen deeply enough to discover what wants to be born. The Red Dragoness opens the first wavespell of the Tzolkin Harmonic Matrix, the first thirteen Kin of a new evolutionary cycle of human gestation. And perhaps this is why beginning a new Tzolkin during the Lunar Moon feels so significant.

☯️ We are not simply beginning another count of days. Symbolically, we are entering another gestational cycle. The 260-day Dreamspell cycle has long been regarded as a symbolic cycle of human gestation: a complete period through which something moves from conception towards emergence.

And what will we be creating now? A different kind of human being?

We are living through a time in which many of the structures that have organised human civilisation are revealing their limitations. Our relationship with the Earth. Our economic systems. Our political structures. Our understanding of power. Our relationship with technology. The way we treat one another. Our relationship with the living world.

The old ways cannot simply be maintained indefinitely without consequences. Something must evolve.

☯️ But evolution does not necessarily mean becoming more powerful, more productive or more technologically sophisticated. Perhaps the deepest evolution is becoming more conscious. More relational. More compassionate. More capable of holding complexity. More capable of recognising interdependence. More willing to move beyond the illusion of separation.

The Lunar Moon asks us to meet polarity rather than flee from it. Because perhaps the very tensions we are experiencing are revealing what humanity needs to learn.

And then the Lunar Moon carries us into the second wavespell: the White Magnetic Wizard. On the third day of this new 13-day evolutionary cycle, we will have a New Moon of Opportunity on Kin 16, the Yellow Electric Warrior.

This transition is beautiful. The Wizard brings us into timelessness, receptivity, enchantment and presence.

☯️ If the Dragoness asks: what is being born? the Wizard asks: can we become quiet enough to receive it?

Perhaps this is the deepest invitation of this new Tzolkin. We cannot create the future simply by pushing our way through the birth canal. For every contraction, there is a pause.

The White Wizard reminds us that consciousness is not simply about doing more. It is also about becoming present enough to perceive what is already emerging. Perhaps the future does not need us to control it, because by doing so we would become an obstacle to its unfolding…

We do not know what the new will look like. Perhaps it needs us to consciously participate in its birth.

☯️ Polarities are teachers. The Lunar Moon tells us: learn from polarity!

This does not mean accepting everything that happens as positive. It does not mean romanticising suffering or indulging in victimhood. And it certainly does not mean remaining passive in the face of injustice.

Rather, it invites us to ask a deeper question:

What is this play of light and shadow showing me? Where is my truth becoming clearer? Where am I being asked to develop greater courage? Where do I need stronger boundaries? Where do I need more compassion? Where, as human beings, have we confused opposition with separation? And where can we, collectively and personally, hold a difference without creating an enemy?

Polarity can become destructive when it convinces us that the other side is completely separate from us. But polarity can also become transformative when it offers us the contrast necessary to see more clearly.

The opposite can become a mirror. The challenge can become a teacher and an opportunity to seek the middle way: the way of the heart. The obstacle can become the place where our heart remains steady while we are fully present with it, and in doing so our capacity to love grows and expands.

☯️ According to the Indian philosophy of Advaita, which literally means “not-two”, there is a single Source. Everything that exists is Consciousness.

 In Hindu scriptures, it is said that it is the “Consciousness Self” that is simultaneously the one who acts and the one who experiences, the one who speaks and the one who listens. We believe that it is “I” who is writing now, or “I” who am speaking while you read or listen, or that you speak and I listen. But if one of us were deeply asleep or under anaesthesia, neither speaking nor listening could take place as we know it. Indeed, while we dream, it seems to us that we are speaking, but in reality we are making no sound.

It is Consciousness itself that speaks through one instrument and listens through another. This allows consciousness to know the infinite permutations of the possibilities of matter.

This film we call life is written, acted and produced by Consciousness. Consciousness plays every character, Consciousness is the screen upon which the film unfolds, and Consciousness is the one who sits in the darkness and watches it.

The same energy flows through eight billion human beings and through countless other forms of life on Earth: like electricity flowing through different appliances, bringing about whatever needs to happen in each one.

The Source is One.

But in order to become manifestation, in order for life to be as we know it, its very foundation had to become duality. One became two, and two became many, in the play of manifestation.

☯️ It is a question we have carried within us forever: if good comes from the same Source as evil, who also wanted the darkest shadow of human history, alongside its saints?

The answer to which this vision leads us is that both arise from the same Unity. If we thought of the Source as pure goodness, we would then have to ask where everything else comes from, and the question would remain unanswered.

For this reason, Advaita invites us to think of the Source not as an entity that is only benevolent, but as the unmanifest Singularity, the Non-Duality that, in order to become life, became duality and multiplicity.

We are, in this sense, simply instruments through which action takes place, instruments through which Consciousness, the Source, expresses itself in every possible direction: in the saint and in the one who has become completely lost from love.

The deeper reason is that the very functioning of life as we know it rests upon duality: masculine and feminine, beauty and imperfection, wealth and poverty, kindness and cruelty, health and fragility.

Without this play of opposites, life as we experience it could not exist. For everything to exist, it needs its corresponding opposite.

☯️ This is why we so often find ourselves asking why undeserved suffering exists, why fragility exists in those who are entirely innocent. Perhaps the most honest answer we can offer ourselves is that fragility and strength co-generate one another, just as light could not be recognised without shadow. Nothing in this world can exist without its interconnected counterpart.

And perhaps the deepest purpose of this journey is precisely to learn to embrace this duality without ceasing to seek, within it, the way of the heart. We have a new possibility of 260 days.

Beginning a new Tzolkin under the Lunar Moon of Challenge feels to me like a profound invitation. We are being asked to enter the new cycle without pretending that the old one never happened. We carry with us everything it has taught us about who we are. But we do not have to carry everything forward. Some things belong to the cycle that is now closing. Some things are compost, others are seeds. And some things are simply ready to dissolve once integration has taken place.

The Wizard reminds us that the deepest transformations can only happen when integration has taken place. It requires presence, receptivity and trust in the intelligence of life.

☯️ Perhaps, then, the invitation of this Lunar Moon is not simply to overcome our challenges.

It is to allow them to reveal the human being we are becoming.

Stabilise without becoming rigid.

Meet polarity without becoming divided.

Face opposition without losing compassion.

Complete what has been completed.

Nourish what is emerging.

And become conscious participants in the next stage of our collective evolution.

POLARIZE. See the mirror clearly.

STABILIZE. Find your centre.

CHALLENGE. Allow what challenges you to reveal what is ready to evolve, without becoming reactive and by accepting the teaching without resistance.

☯️ And so, as one Tzolkin closes and another begins, let us remember:

Every ending contains a conception.
Every challenge contains information.
Every polarity can become a doorway to greater awareness.
And every new cycle offers us another opportunity to consciously participate in the evolution of humanity. And you, will you accept the challenge?
